Travel mode

Turn on travel mode from the drawer to hide chosen labels while you're away — your sensitive categories stay out of sight until you switch it off.

Travel mode is a privacy convenience for when you are away from home and someone might glance at your screen. It hides the labels you choose: the categories and entries tagged with those labels disappear from the app’s views while travel mode is on.

Turning it on

Travel mode lives in the navigation drawer — the row with a switch and a label button:

  • Switch on — travel mode activates. If no labels are selected yet, the app opens the label picker so you can choose what to hide.
  • Label button — opens the label picker at any time to change which labels are hidden.
  • Switch off — travel mode turns off. The labels you selected are preserved, so your choice survives the next trip.
  • If you dismiss the label picker without selecting anything, travel mode turns itself off rather than hiding nothing.

What it hides

Only the labels you selected are affected. A label is a colored tag you can attach to transactions — for example, marking certain spending as private or work-related. While travel mode is on, transactions carrying the chosen labels are not shown, and the label’s views reflect the hide. Unlabelled transactions and everything else remain visible as usual. Labels are assigned per transaction in the transaction form (see the transactions guide); if a transaction carries no hidden label, travel mode does not touch it.

How it differs from hiding a transaction

Travel mode is a temporary viewing state, not an edit. It does not delete, move, or change any transaction, category, or label — it only changes what is displayed while the switch is on. Flipping it back restores the full views immediately.

When to use it

The common case is traveling: you are sharing a phone with family or a colleague, or you simply do not want spending on certain labels visible if the phone is picked up. Because the toggle is in the drawer, it is one swipe and one tap away — and equally fast to turn off when you are back.
