How the Bluecoins app handles your data — written from how the app actually behaves.

Bluecoins is a personal-finance app for Android. Your financial data belongs to you and stays under your control: everything is processed on your device, and the points below describe exactly what the app stores, what it never does, and where your data goes when you choose to back it up.

What Bluecoins stores

All Bluecoins data lives on your device: transactions, accounts, budgets, categories, labels, payees, and attachments are kept in the app's local database on your phone. There is no Bluecoins server holding your data, and nothing is uploaded on its own — data is sent to the cloud only if you set up cloud backup (see Backups below), and you pick which backup file a restore uses.

What Bluecoins does not do

  • No bank login. Bluecoins never logs into your bank and never stores bank credentials. To save you typing, it can read push notifications from banking apps and SMS and create the transactions for you — see bank notifications and SMS auto-log.
  • No web app. Bluecoins is a phone app — there is no web or desktop version, and no Bluecoins website account to sign up for. The app works offline.
  • No server-side processing of your data. Cloud backup connects to your own Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive account — not to a Bluecoins-operated server. Seeonline sync.

Backups

You have two ways to keep your data safe, and both are optional:

  • Local backups. The app can keep zipped database backups in a folder on your phone, with scheduled automatic backups and cleanup of old backup files so the folder does not grow forever. You can also back up and restore on demand from the Data Management settings.
  • Cloud backup. A premium feature — manual or automatic backup and restore through your own Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive account, including automatic upload of transaction attachments. Restoring from the cloud replaces your local data with the backup you pick.

Backups are encrypted. See theonline sync guide and theData settings for how both work.

Notifications & SMS

With your permission, the app can read push notifications from banking apps and SMS messages and automatically create transactions from them. This happens entirely on your device, purely to log what the bank tells you — you enable it manually, choose which apps are allowed, and no bank credentials are involved or stored. The phone is the data source, and nothing is sent anywhere on your behalf.

Ads in the free tier

Bluecoins is free with ads. The free tier shows Google AdMob ads — a banner and a medium-rectangle placement. Before any ad loads, the app runs Google's UMP (User Messaging Platform) consent flow, and ad loading is gated on that consent. Premium users never see ads.

Purchases

Premium is a one-time purchase that removes ads and unlocks the premium features. Payment is processed by Google Play Billing — Google handles the transaction, not Bluecoins. There is no subscription.

Your choices

  • Lock the app. Enable a PIN with fingerprint or biometric unlock, add a widget transaction PIN, and choose when the lock applies. See Password and fingerprint.
  • Control notification logging. Notification and SMS auto-log is off until you turn it on, and you decide which apps can be read.
  • Take your data with you. Import transactions from CSV or QIF files, and export your reports to PDF, Excel, or HTML. See theimport and export guide.
  • Erase everything. A full data reset deletes your data — back up first, there is no undo.
  • Go ad-free. Premium removes ads from the free tier.
