Data

Import transactions from CSV or QIF, back up and restore to phone storage, and reset your data.

The Data Management screen is where data comes in and out of the app: CSV and QIF import, local phone-storage backups, and a full data reset. Open the app drawer, tap Settings, then Data Management.

Backup and restore

  • Phone Storage — the local backup manager. Choose the default backup location (a folder on your phone), switch on Automatic phone backup and set the daily time, back up to phone storage on demand, and restore from a backup file (.fydb). A background worker keeps the scheduled backups running, and a second worker deletes backup files older than the retention period so the folder does not grow forever.

Import data

  • Excel (.csv) — import from a CSV file. The import options cover encoding, date format, and the ignore-amount-sign toggle.
  • QIF — import from a Quicken Interchange Format file.

Both importers follow the same read → validate → map → save pipeline and report per-row errors, so a bad line does not silently break the rest of the file.

See the import and export guide for preparing files and the full option list.

Reset data

  • Reset data — erases your data after a confirmation dialog. There is no undo, so back up first.

Health advice

Back up before any import or reset — an automatic daily backup to phone storage is cheap insurance. For protection that survives a lost phone, pair it with Online Sync, which keeps a copy in the cloud (premium).
